Next week, the energy across our music production course hits a whole new level as we welcome back one of the most anticipated events of the year — Industry Day.
This isn’t just another date in the calendar. It’s a full-on, immersive experience where our students step directly into the world they’re working towards — connecting with professionals, exploring real industry pathways, and getting hands-on insight into what it takes to build a career in music today.
We’re proud to host an incredible range of industry voices, each bringing their own unique perspective, experience, and creative energy.
Keynote: Jason and Sarah Dasent
Leading this year’s event is Jason Dasent — a music producer and accessibility consultant whose work champions inclusivity in the music industry. His keynote promises to challenge perspectives and open up important conversations about making music spaces more accessible for all. As Sound On Sound wrote … “as well as developing a career as a producer, songwriter and keyboard player, Jason has also found himself becoming the industry’s leading adviser on accessibility, working with almost all the major hardware and software manufacturers to help them make their products usable by vision‑impaired people.” Jay and Sarah’s workshop will be an opportunity fro us to explore how to develop and work accessibly.
Workshops That Get You Doing
Industry Day is all about active learning — and this year’s sessions are packed with opportunities to dive in:
Booking & Promotion Workshop – Harkirit Boparai
Independent promoter and DJ Harkirit Boparai will guide students through the realities of booking live events and promoting music — essential knowledge for anyone looking to build their own scene or brand.
Songwriting in the Studio – Billy Crabtree & Rosie Landy-Freitas
Get ready for a serious creative boost.

Billy Crabtree is a BRIT-nominated and Oscar-shortlisted songwriter who has written for artists including KSI, Christina Aguilera,Conor Maynard, and Trippie Redd. He will bring high-level songwriting expertise straight into the studio.
He’ll be joined by Rosie Landy-Freitas, one of our graduates now working at SW61 Studios, collaborating on projects linked with major labels including Warner and Atlantic. This is a rare chance to see how professional songwriting sessions really work — and to be part of them.
The Big Conversation: Your Future in Music
To round off the day, all guest speakers will come together with Helen Julia Minors, Head of the School of the Arts, for a panel discussion on the future of the music industry.
This is where the big questions get tackled:
- What does a sustainable career in music look like today?
- How do you navigate an ever-changing industry landscape?
- What skills and mindsets really matter?
It’s an open, honest conversation — and a chance for students to hear directly from people shaping the industry right now.
Why Industry Day Matters
For anyone considering joining our course, this day captures exactly what we’re about:
- Real industry connections
- Hands-on, practical experience
- Access to professionals who are actively working in the field
- A community that supports creativity and ambition
This isn’t theory — it’s your future, brought into the classroom.
