A High-Profile Project at Abbey Road

Joey Besch, a York St John Music Production alum, recently dove into an exciting project at Abbey Road Studios. He reviewed his mix with Kindelan, a Yorkshire singer/songwriter and guitarist. Known for her jazz-infused alternative soul. Kindelan who also performed at Latitude Festival in July, is making waves in the local music scene. Her tracks, “Cigarettes” and “Hazel Frustration,” were recorded at Abbey Road Studio 2. As a result, all proceeds from the vinyl sales will support Children in Need.

Reflecting on the Abbey Road Experience

Joey commented, “The whole experience was tremendously enjoyable. For instance, being able to sit in for the Abbey Road sessions and then watch everything come to life even more in the mix was very rewarding. I graduated two years ago, so it was also a perfect example of how even after you graduate, you are very much still part of the YSJ music production family.”

His words highlight the lasting connection YSJ alumni have with the program. Above all, it emphasizes how this project is not just about the music, but about community and growth.

BBC Introducing Collaboration

The vinyl project, in collaboration with BBC Introducing, is shaping up to be something truly exceptional. For example, it not only highlights emerging artists like Kindelan but also gives early-career producers, like Joey, a chance to showcase their work. Moreover, this opportunity provides a large platform, which is important in the early stages of their careers.

Continued Support for Alumni

Joey’s involvement in such a high-profile project shows the strength of the YSJ community. Even after two years since graduating, he remains connected to the programme. Therefore, this reflects how the music production course continues to nurture its students long after they’ve moved on from university.

Similarly, whether you’re a current student aiming to make your mark or an alum like Joey, this project shows that YSJ’s music production family is always here to help you create and collaborate.
